Hi, I’m Casey.
My mission is to help free people from unnecessary effort and unhelpful narratives.
I believe that using punishment and shame to motivate ourselves and others reaches a point of diminishing returns, even if it works for awhile in the short-term.
A more powerful, lasting approach is to build on what’s working. If you reward progress that’s in the direction you want to go, you will see more of it.
This philosophy is grounded in my background in education. My first career was actually kind of a double career: I founded and ran two education-related businesses (one was a music school, and the other was a tiny middle school), and I also worked directly with students in those businesses, teaching everything from music to math.
My work as a teacher gave me an up-close understanding of how people learn and what gets in the way. I dug into curriculum design, behavioral science, and how to accommodate neurodiversity.
Meanwhile, as an owner of multiple small businesses, I had to get up to speed with systems, processes, and leading multiple teams simultaneously, along with the personal productivity habits to make it all happen.
I began transitioning into coaching and organizational development in 2018. Happily, the insights I gained as an educator, entrepreneur, and people manager have found new life in my work with executives, managers, and teams across industries. Even though the circumstances are different, the principles are the same: Orient to the outcome, meet people where they are, and build on what’s working.
Because I still can’t fit all of my work into one company, I also offer programs for entrepreneurs, creatives, artists, and other weirdos over at Rulerless.
I live on the coast of Maine with my husband and twin toddlers.
