Instead of trying harder…

Try a different way.

Try different things.

Try collaborating differently.

“You know what you need to do, you just need to do it.”

This tough-love advice might be exactly what someone needs to hear in order to move forward and get motivated.

The problem is that everyone else hears the same advice and thinks, “Ugh, that’s probably true,” even when it isn’t.

So they push themselves to break through what’s holding them back, hoping to get better results through sheer force of will.

But what if it’s not true? Maybe you don’t know what to do.

And maybe knowing what to do isn’t enough anyway. Maybe you need to know how to do it.

Competent people miss this all the time, because they’re so used to already knowing.

But if you’re doing something you’ve never done before, why would you already know how to do it?

Our work at Good North is to support individuals, teams, and organizations in uncovering and implementing the missing “how” that so many of us assume is already there.
